Baurnmalerei style birdhouse

Constructed by Don Jerman and painted by Margaret using non-toxic acrylic paints in the Baurnmalerei (or German folk art) style, several of these 24 inch tall, 7 1/2 inches wide, 8 inches deep birdhouses have been completed with various background colors. Each is "free handed" so the designs are similar, but no two exactly alike. The paint is sealed with an exterior acrylic varnish, so the house functions with real occupants out-of-doors. It mounts easily to a post, or tree, or other existing structure with nail or screw through pre-drilled hole in the top of the back panel. The back of the birdhouse is removable for easy cleaning. This particular birdhouse now belongs to Natalie and Rock Roskam. When this photo was taken, it had already been outdoors and occupied for one season.
